Trim District Chamber of Commerce and four local hotels, Trim Castle, Knightsbrook, Castle Arch and Bellinteer House have organised a festival for the Halloween bank holiday weekend.
The Trim festival of Masks, which will run from the 24th to the 29th of October, falls at a time when many people are holidaying and according to Chamber of Commerce should be a welcome attraction as well as inspire people to visit Trim.
Colm O Foghlu of Ember Productions, a local theatre management company, said that the festival has the potential to become not only a national event but also to have an international appeal.
Included among the many forms of entertainment is an atmospheric candlelight masquerade ball, orchestral music and spooky story-telling in Trim Castle.
Conor Delgarno, President of Trim chamber of commerce said that the Chamber of Commerce "are committed to a three year festival plan and are very much looking forward to the festivities this Halloween bank holiday weekend and the long term effects that will accrue in the years to follow."
