Toronto—Outside of the thievery and gun slinging, Hollywood Star Brad Pitt did draw parallels from the history of Jesse James, the time that he lived, and the similarities with the media and their contribution to legends and myths.

"I was surprised to see how much a tabloid quotient of media was alive and well at that time, still operated by sensationalism, and complete fabrication beyond the facts," said Pitt.

"And I was curious to see that not much had changed besides quantity."

The A-list actor has experienced a significant amount of tabloid intrusion in recent years over his previous marriage and breakup with actress Jennifer Anniston, as well as with the media watching every aspect of his relationship with Angelina Jolie and their children.

His joint adoption of Jolie's children in recent years and birth of their own biological child has increased Pitt's concern for the safety of his family amidst the public career he leads.

Yet he maintains a level of understanding despite the tendencies to obstruct private space.

"I know the deal and I understand the trade off and there are great perks to what we do, we get to travel and see the world and we manage it and it is manageable… the only time it becomes unmanageable is when it becomes a full frontal assault on the kids," said Pitt.

"Unfortunately there is no line concerning family these days and that concerns me… and this is the only thing that bothers me in this day and age."

The balancing act of being a high profile movie star and attempting to live and go about a normal life has been difficult for Pitt.

Most recently at the Venice Film Festival, Pitt was attacked by a deranged fan who attempted to hug him.

Despite the heightened security, the woman was able to approach and hug Pitt for a few quick moments before security caught wind and removed her. "Listen I don't want to change my life because of paranoia, it could point out that we can be vulnerable in these situations and that there are more than a couple of people out there that aren't playing with a full deck," said Pitt.

Pitt's new film stars Casey Affleck and Sam Sheppard in a character piece called The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

The film is directed by Andrew Dominick whose directorial debut, Chopper, won him critical acclaim.

This, his sophomoric trial, was delayed from a planned 2006 release to 2007 and has won much praise for Pitt's performance, which won him the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival recently.

Operating outside of the general Western genre, the new film is far more dramatic and in-depth than his usual fare.

The film is set for US release on September 21st.
