The autumn breeze has barely arrived, but Chinese people around the world are already getting ready to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 25. In a first of its kind event, the Divine Performing Arts Troupe is coming to Toronto to bring the beauty of this ancient holiday to Western and Chinese audiences alike.

Also known as the Moon Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar. Seen as the Chinese version of Thanksgiving, it is a celebration in which families gather to thank the heavens for the year's harvest and to treasure the time spent together.

The Divine Performing Arts troupe has earned rave reviews for its sold out global tour of NTDTV's 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular where it has performed to more than 200 000 live audience members in over 30 cities around the world, including North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. This fall, it is returning for its fourth year in Toronto to showcase yet another traditional Chinese holiday with the Mid-Autumn Spectacular.

True to their motto of bringing world-class performances of "pure truthfulness, pure compassion, and pure beauty", the Divine Performing Arts have been acclaimed for their commitment to reviving ancient Chinese culture and bringing it to the international stage. Ancient Chinese culture was known for its beautiful arts, which were rooted in Confucian, Buddhist and Daoist beliefs, and that emphasized morality as well as harmony between heaven and earth.

Through classical Chinese dance, vocal performances and an orchestra that has achieved the feat of successfully combining classical Chinese and Western instruments, the Divine Performing Arts is emerging as a unique phenomenon on the world's stage.

Presented by the Falun Dafa Association of Canada, the Mid-Autumn Spectacular is taking place at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on September 27 and 28 at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased from TicketMaster 416 872 1111 or at the ticket hotline: 416 248 1111. Tickets are $ 30, $ 50, $ 80, $120 and $150 (VIP). There is a 15% discount for the purchase of four or more tickets.
