On August 17, Dynamic Internet Technology (DIT) Inc. released FreeGate 1 v6.43, which solved problems caused by recently intensified efforts of Internet blockade by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
After July 18, many users complained that the DynaWeb website was slower and more unstable. The situation worsened until, on August 15, users found it difficult to access DynaWeb at all. During this period, some commercial communications also experienced a temporary loss of network connection. All these problems were caused by the CCP's intensified Internet blockade. Meanwhile, many overseas Chinese websites were attacked by hackers.
The newly released FreeGate v6.43 software resolves the problems with the intensified Internet blockade imposed by the CCP. Professional and emergency versions were also released at the same time. All users are encouraged to download both versions: the professional for regular use and the emergency for backup. The emergency version is the same as using the professional, except that it cannot open homepages linked through https until it connects with the server. Thus it is more powerful in breaking through the blockade with a slight inferior quality, compared to the professional one.
Mr. Bill Xia, president of the DIT, said that's not a problem at all to break through the blockade using advanced Internet technology. It is not an equal competition between the CCP's Internet censorship technologies and outside anti-blockage technologies. For example, 1,000 yuan (US$131.76) had to be invested in order to enhance the Internet blockade. But it only took one yuan ($0.13) to break through this blockage. The CCP's Internet blockage inadvertently made commercial communications more prone to disconnection. Thus the intensified blockade both took away people's Internet freedom and also harmed their businesses.
The DynaWeb website is going to release more updated versions, take more measures, and provide more suggestions for breaking through the Internet blockade. It urges investors to pay close attention to these matters.
The DynaWeb website was launched in March 2002. According to a survey entitled "The First Questionnaire about Internet Blockage" jointly conducted by the World's Gate and the clear-mind forum, 80 percent of participants often used the FreeGate software.
