WASHINGTON D.C—On July 20, 2007, the day that marks the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s eighth year of persecution of Falun Gong, Zhang Erping, spokesman for Falun Gong was interviewed by several media in Washington D.C. The Youmaker website and the international radio station Sound of Hope broadcast the interview with Zhang live to Mainland China and other overseas areas.
Falun Gong's Peaceful Ideology of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" Gained Consensus from the World
Mr. Zhang Erping said that Falun Gong is a people's organization without personal interests. It is not a political organization. In the past eight years, people have witnessed that Falun Gong relies on voluntary work and the peaceful ideology of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance," instead of on violent or political means to spread information. The persecution itself has brought tremendous hardship to Falun Gong practitioners and their families. It has also pushed Falun Gong onto the world stage. Many people who did not know Falun Gong before, and not only in China, now have a better understanding of what Falun Gong is; more and more people in the world now also understand and agree with Falun Gong's ideology and peaceful protest.
Zhang said that people in the world can use any method to stop the persecution, including political methods and non-political methods. Political activity itself is very difficult to define. Any social activity can be called a political activity. But Falun Gong practitioners have adopted a non-political method and non-violent path.
In the past eight years, the entire world has seen that Falun Gong is becoming stronger and stronger because of its peaceful ideology, which is based on "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." This ideology is a common principle of the world, therefore, it has gained consensus from the international society and Chinese people.
Quitting the CCP is to Withdraw from Politics
Zhang also said that Falun Gong does not get involved in politics. Falun Gong practitioners quit the CCP and relevant organizations just to get away from the politics that was enforced on every Chinese by the CCP via its rule, that "politics leads everything." To separate oneself from the wicked CCP that has harmed the Chinese people and Chinese culture is the righteous choice for every Chinese with a conscience.
He said that in Mainland China, to join the party is of course to get involved in politics. If one quits the CCP, one withdraws from political activities. Many Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China used to be CCP members, and by quitting the CCP, they will no longer be involved in the party that persecutes their own fellow practitioners. Therefore, from any perspective, quitting the CCP is not a political movement. It is a movement to withdraw from politics.
Zhang Erping continued, "Since 1949, when CCP seized power, the disasters the CCP has brought to the Chinese people have not been limited to Falun Gong practitioners. The CCP has brought all kinds of atrocities to all Chinese people. Approximately 70 to 80 million Chinese people have lost their lives under the tyranny of the CCP. The fact that Chinese people are withdrawing from the party also brings hope and happiness to the Chinese people themselves."
Persecution Gone Underground
Zhang Erping said that the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong has gone underground from its previous methods of public slandering, using the media and setting policies against Falun Gong practitioners. Although it is rare to see news about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Mainland Chinese media, the persecution has not come to an end. Many Falun Gong practitioners are still living in hardship. Recent investigations into allegations of live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP, both by a Canadian independent investigation group and other international organizations, has further proven that the CCP has taken every measure to persecute Falun Gong. This kind of persecution is unprecedented in human history.
The Only Way to End the Persecution Is to Disintegrate the Chinese Communist Regime
Zhang Erping said that the Chinese Communist regime has used its whole state apparatus as well as enormous amounts of financial resources to suppress Falun Gong. These are not only criminal acts against international law, but also against China's own constitution. It is also a great calamity for all Chinese people, for Chinese culture, and for humanity. The persecution outlines the cruel and vicious nature of the CCP, which has become an immediate threat to all civilizations in the world, to world peace and to the stability of the whole world.
In addition, the CCP has also extended its persecution overseas, exporting its terrorism and actions to Western democratic countries. Its huge overseas spy system and its worldwide sabotaging activities have brought fear and uneasiness to people around the globe.
Zhang Erping said that the only way to end this persecution is to end the Chinese Communist regime.
Using the Law to Bring Murderers to Justice
Zhang Erping said that Falun Gong practitioners are using all kinds of ways to let people know about the persecution. They have also taken legal measures to bring criminals who participate in the persecution to justice. Although these criminals who have involved themselves in the persecution of Falun Gong have not received a trial in China, which is a society without a sound legal system, he affirmed that the international community will surely use its legal means to solve this problem.
Falun Gong practitioners have filed charges worldwide against Chinese officials who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong. In many countries, independent courts have accepted these charges and processed them according to their legal system.
A Unique and Peaceful Movement by Falun Gong
Zhang Erping, who is engaged in the study of Asian Affairs, said that during the past several decades, we have seen a non-violent movement in India led by Mahatma Gandhi, peaceful protests in the U.S.A. led by Martin Luther King, as well as some other civil rights movements. The huge peaceful anti-tyranny protest by Falun Gong is unique, because Falun Gong is a non-political group. Its protests request the right to cultivate oneself, the right to freedom of belief, the right to practice Falun Gong in public parks, and it requests the punishment for those involved in the persecution.
Zhang Erping said that in the face of violence and lies, Falun Gong practitioners always use and practice the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." They dissolve lies by sincerity and awaken good conscience with kindness.
Time and history are witnessing what is happening. The standard initiated by Falun Gong—"Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" is the moral and value standard of all human beings. In countries all over the world, one hundred million Falun Gong practitioners who have been practicing to become good people have fully proven this point. Falun Gong brings good health and moral cultivation to human beings. In any and all circumstances, Falun Gong brings benefit to the nation, society and the individual.
