The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern opened Brown Bags Films' new animation studio in Smithfield on Tuesday.
Brown Bags Films was founded in 1994 by two animation graduates Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O'Connell. With the opening of the studio in Smithfield the animation company will now employ fifty three staff.
One of their productions Give up Yer Aul Sins received an Oscar nomination in 2002. They have more recently sold the cartoon I'm an Animal one hundred and forty countries world wide.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said the new studio was state of the art and beautifully designed.
"The new studio takes pride of place here in Smithfield which has seen much welcome regeneration in recent years."
This studio is the first high definition animation and post production facility in Ireland.
