There is a long history of the Chinese communist regime controlling overseas Chinese students and scholars. In the early 1980s, after passing the foreign language exam and strict political checking, I had the opportunity to study in Paris, France with government funding. Since then I’ve gained an understanding of how the regime controls overseas Chinese.
CCP Chief Manages Students and Scholars
During that time, a section party chief was in charge of a large district in France. Together with local student association leaders, he managed overseas students, graduate students, and visiting scholars.
During that time, the section party chief in my district was Mr. Wang. He originally worked in the Chinese Academy of Science and was sent overseas on a four-year graduate program. The Chinese Embassy provided for all his expenses incurred on activities. Whenever communist leaders came for a visit, he would organize people to go and welcome them. He also organized dinners during holidays or the Chinese New Year so as to gain an understanding of students’ thinking and activities. That is how the regime makes students and scholars its political tools.
Embassy Staff Closely Watched
Some embassy staff were also very annoyed by this kind of strict control. On one occasion, an embassy Second Secretary told me that in order to enable people to keep a watch on one another, embassy staff must go out with at least one other person. The regime is very afraid of people defecting. Some staff were even envious that because I lived far away from the embassy, I did not need to suffer from so many restrictions.
Recently, Mr. Chen Yonglin and some other righteous people have also come forward to expose how the Chinese Embassy controls overseas Chinese associations and makes them communist spies. This is very sad. I write this letter to advise those who have sold their souls for self-interest. Break away from the evil party’s control as soon as possible. Don’t become buried together in the regime’s grave when it collapses.
