Recently a certain association in China—set up by Jiang Zemin in order to serve his purpose of persecuting Falun Gong—has defamed New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) and the "International Chinese Classic Dance Competition" through www.chinanews.net. NTDTV hereby issues the following statement:
1) The U.S.-based Divine Performing Arts Group went on a world tour this year travelling to over 30 cities in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. More than 200,000 people watched the live show. Regardless of people's race, language, education or cultural background, they were all deeply touched by the performance, which displayed extraordinary skill and profound content.
The most prominent artistic element that showcased the performers' skills and dramatized the content was Chinese classical dance. In order to further promote the purely truthful, purely compassionate and purely beautiful art of dance, as well as enable the world to benefit from traditional Chinese culture, NTDTV has decided to hold the "International Chinese Classic Dance Competition" so as to invite those talented artists who are dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture to fulfil this great undertaking with us.
2) Since its establishment, NTDTV has shown concern for the lives and human rights of people in China, and has put great effort into exposing the lies of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). NTDTV has reported truthfully about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. The CCP has retaliated by utilizing every political, economic, diplomatic and cultural tool at its dispoal to interfere. To discredit NTDTV, the regime has resorted to rumor-mongering, harrassment and intimidation. They have tried to bribe NTDTV's business partners with the promise of economic benefit. They have used spies to obtain information about Divine Performing Arts performances as well as to interfere with the shows in Korea.
The CCP has done so simply out of their frustration and fear when their lies are exposed. The bogus statement by a certain Chinese dance association recently is merely another display of the CCP's feeble rumor-mongering tactics.
3) Since it seized power, the CCP has done everthing to destroy China's traditional culture. The regime has also appropriated a form of traditional culture to concoct a so-called "party culture". This "party culture" pervades everything in China and represents the CCP's "soft" approach to maintain its evil rule. When faced with NTDTV's efforts to revive and promote Chinese traditional culture, the "party culture" is doomed to total collapse. This is why the CCP shows such fear and spreads such vicious rumors.
4) NTDTV is an independent media and has never received funding from any political group, including governments or regional authorities of other countries, nor does it seek political power. NTDTV's primary aim is to provide the public with objective reporting, a diversified vision and an enhanced cultural exchange between different ethnic groups.
5) Traditional Chinese culture has as its core values to revere Heaven, honor gods, do good deeds, and value morality, humanity, justice, truth, wisdom and faith. It should be one of government's responsibilities to preserve and pass down the best of this culture. However, the CCP—guided by its adherance to atheism, and using violence and lies to maintain its hold on power—is completely incapable of preserving traditional Chinese culture.
As a non-governmental organization, NTDTV has accepted the great responsibility of reviving and continuing China's national heritage. As part of NTDTV's efforts to promote authentic Chinese culture, the International Chinese Classic Dance Competition is just a splendid event. NTDTV will continue to promote traditional Chinese culture and keep exposing the CCP's atrocities and lies, as well as endeavor to help China become a free and diversified society as soon as possible.
