Tasman National Park in south-east Tasmania is a place of incredible beauty and some of the best coastal walking in Australia. Dramatic dolerite "organ-pipe" rock formations rise 300m from the sea and are easily accessible by car, foot and boat. Believed to be Australia's highest sea cliffs, the magnificence and grandeur of the natural landscape is truly awe-inspiring.

The fantastic landforms can be admired from any distance. For the easy traveller, spectacular views, sandy beaches and sea-sculptured landscapes are easily accessible by car and by short strolls along the beach. Tasman Arch, Blowhole, Waterfall Bay and Remarkable Cave make perfect day trips. Longer, more energetic walks through a variety of heath and woodland range from a few hours to half day walks and 2-3 day overnight walks.

With no built accommodation in the park itself, the Tasman Peninsula has a range of accommodation options, and camping and caravans are welcome at Fortescue Bay. (It is best to book prior to your arrival to avoid disappointment, especially at peak times).

The spectacular dolerite columns and cliffs along the rugged coastline are National Estate listed for their geoheritage values and are becoming more and more popular for climbing and abseiling. Hang gliders can also launch off from Pirates Bay for a birdīs eye view of the coast.

Pirates Bay, Fortescue Bay, Port Arthur and the Tasman Sea offer the boating enthusiast sheltered waters for fishing and a sailor's view of the magnificent sea shore. Sea kayaking and canoeing are permitted but one must be well prepared for all sea conditions which can change rapidly in the area.

The spectacular coastal areas protected by the Tasman National Park cater are easily accessible to travellers of all fitness and activity levels.
