Australia's Gold Coast was fortunate enough to play host to the largest authentic Chinese cultural show to tour the globe this evening. New Tang Dynasty Televisionīs 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular left a lasting impression on a captivated Queensland audience, whilst playing a huge role in establishing the Gold Coast as a city that embraces multiculturalism.

Rarely do theatre events of such a high caliber come to the Gold Coast, and the arrival of the Spectacular has certainly delivered the finest in cultural arts to this fast growing city. Local business owner Putu Prostamo, who majored in traditional dance while at university in Bali, felt the quality of the choreography and dance in the show was of an excellent standard.

Divine Performing Arts, responsible for the brilliant choreography featured in the Spectacular fulfilled its mission to explore and rediscover the essence of traditional Chinese culture. Each movement went beyond the physical, carrying an energy that seemed to literally reach out and touch the hearts of audience members throughout the theatre.

The music and singing also achieved this effect. Lebanese-born Ibtisam Ayoub said, "I think it's fantastic, I enjoyed every bit of it, and I can come back again and again and again if there is one. I loved everything, but I loved the singing, I love opera - that was fantastic." Mrs Ayoub said the experience of Chinese culture had given her great pleasure.

The Spectacular vividly brought to life some of the most revered stories in China's 5000-year civilisation, putting the Gold Coast on the cultural map, as a city that embraces multiculturalism and values cultural arts.

The NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular has extended its global shows to more screenings in New Zealand, Korea and Taiwan with the Divine Performing Arts group who are the artistic force behind New Tang Dynasty Television's Holiday Wonders and Chinese New Year Spectacular shows each year. Its mission is to rediscover the essence of true, traditional culture and to bring arts to the world that celebrate human dignity and positive values. It produces and performs works that center on classical themes and divinely-inspired cultural traditions. The group's performances aim to provide an experience of consummate beauty and goodness.
