Those attending NTDTV's Chinese New Year Spectacular visited the Manchu Court at the Saturday matinee and saw the skill demonstrated in dancing in high heeled shoes. Even one of the hosts got into the fun by wearing a pair. The performance was attended by a great number of families. Children were fascinated by the colorful costumes and acrobatic dance moves.
Bill Sagosz, 95, of Seabrook Valley Retirement Community, New Jersey, said the performance was "very calming." He and his companion, Eleanor Wenzel, went last year and anticipated this year's program. Bill enjoyed "Dunhuang Dream" because he appreciates sculpture. "I'm impressed," he commented. Ms. Wenzel, herself a line dance teacher on Broadway before her retirement, liked the dancer's control. "It's not like modern dancing," she said.
Tenill Bethae and her daughter Melody, Manhattan, "loved it." Melody especially liked the dance about Mulan and the Mongolian Bowl Dance. Tenill said they watched the Holiday Wonders show and that brought them to see more at the Spectacular. "I'm fascinated by Chinese culture," she said.

Silento Thomas and Danielle Sweet with their son, Phoenix, come to Chinatown every year from their home in Newburgh, New York, and are celebrating by attending the Spectacular. "It's great," Danielle said. "Disney had changed the [Mulan] story. It's good to hear the real story." Danielle noted that authentic Chinese culture is not what you see on television. They learned about the Spectacular online.
Amy Chan and her family from Cresskill, New Jersey, said the program "was enjoyable." Her daughter liked the ribbon dance. She is very familiar with her own Chinese culture, but wanted her children to experience it. "It was well put together."

Rolando Cohen has been visiting China for 15 years and thought the Spectacular was "well put together. Very authentic and well balanced." They heard about the program from Time Out magazine. Rolando is from El Salvador; his wife Linda is from Honduras and their son, Roberto, is a U.S. citizen.
Radio City hosts one more performance Saturday evening. The Spectacular then moves to international venues.
The Epoch Times is proud to co-sponsor the Spectacular with NTDTV and Sound of Hope Radio. For more information, go to www.BestChineseShow.com .
