The Hummer H2 provides you the ultimate freedom—you can go just about anywhere, and do anything. You will connect to all those things that make you feel good about yourself. Hummer is a leader in the SUV category in terms of three key factors: exterior aesthetic, interior comfort, and off-road performance.
The H2 uses a welded ladder-type frame with full-length box-section side rails, and a 3-piece modular design consisting of front, middle, and rear sections. The front section is hydro-formed, making it strong enough to support a 4091 kg capacity winch in the integral receiver mount. This also allows you to affix a trailer hitch, so you can easily "nose" a trailer into a garage or parking space. The mid-section is a fabricated and welded, stamped-steel box, box-segment that helps minimize vibration for a smooth ride. And the hydro-formed, short rear section, is reinforced to handle the weight of a fully loaded vehicle.
The H2 features a 2-speed, electronically controlled, full-time 4WD system, which is perhaps the most advanced ever offered on a consumer vehicle. With proper training, you and your Hummer can do amazing things. Climb a 40 cm vertical wall. Scale a 60 percent grade. Traverse a 40 percent side slope and operate in up to 50 cm of water. But if you are less creative like me, then you can drive your Hummer to work and play while impressing your friends and boss as they declare you have the spirit of an adventurer and the spirit of a lion.
The H2 offers an advanced traction control system. Whether it's off-road or in severe weather conditions that kick it into action, the H2 traction control system is peerless in the SUV category.
High-strength, 46 mm diameter monotube gas-charged shock absorbers, known for durability, grace the front suspension of the H2. This system incorporates 2 rubber cushions called "jounce bumpers" which absorb jolts under normal off-road conditions.
An automatic, self-leveling, air spring suspension that works in conjunction with an onboard air compressor helps keep the H2 level under load, and allows for greater approach and departure angles when conditions call for it.
I could spend several more paragraphs talking about anti-lock braking, the vertical windshield, XM Satellite Radio, rear vision camera system, and the On Star System, but the bottom line is this: Hummer is not for everyone. You have to be bold, adventurous and willing to leave the simple pathways of life. You must yearn to journey through cold streams, along valley cliffs, toward mountaintops, while taking on troublesome roads and overgrowth that shrouds untouched and pristine places. You are courageous enough to become strong of heart and have depth of spirit.
