Solo artist with acoustic guitar: check. Signed to Peacefrog: check. Rising to greater prominence on the back of an interminable advertising campaign: check. But no, Findlay Brown isn't exactly the new Jose Gonzalez. Despite many similarities, his sound is a little more fulsome than that of Gonzalez, and shares more in common with the folk balladry of the late '60s and early '70s. The album wanders along pleasingly enough without ever making a proper lasting impression, but it is worthy of a small niche in your record collection marked "music to play at dusk in the back garden."
