NEW YORK—Wang Juntao, a renowned Chinese democratic activist and chairman of the board of the Chinese Constitutional Reform Association, brought his family to watch the NTDTV's Holiday Wonders on December 22. Wang said the show presented a state of purity, especially on the spiritual level.
Wang thinks the show displayed a very beautiful artistic concept and is more attractive for non-Falun Gong practitioners. Even those without any spiritual belief can feel the pure magical beauty from the show. "What moves me the most in the show is Gods from Chinese mythology sacrificing themselves to save the world when its morality is deteriorating. There are similar stories in both eastern and western cultures. For example, God helped Noah to build the Ark to survive the Great Flood; and Great Yu in ancient China fulfilled God's will and followed his father's footstep to subdue the flood. Yu's action thoroughly expressed the unity of heaven and man in Chinese culture," said Wang.
Wang thinks if men can't save themselves, then there will be no hope for a better world. Wang is very familiar with all the stories in the show and interested in the message the show tries to convey, especially the relationship between man and heaven.
Wang said, "I went to jail in China when I was 17 for the democratic movement in 1976. I thought about China's past and future and how to make changes. I see the future in two aspects—the system, culture and people's daily behavior and the spiritual level, especially the oneness of heaven and man."
Wang said the show triggered many of his thoughts about retribution. He believes that everyone struggles with bad and good thoughts, even bad men have good thoughts. But, some people in China have committed extremely bad deeds such as persecuting Falun Gong and killing over 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners. That is unforgivable. From the legal perspective, the culprits of the persecution must pay, that's their retribution.
