Members of Auckland's Burmese community, human rights activists and members of the Falun Gong community greeted the Human Rights Torch on its arrival in Auckland at 1.50am this morning.

A ceremony was held at the airport, before the official launch of the New Zealand tour at Queen Elizabeth Square in central Auckland at 1pm today.

Thousands are expected to turn out for the event, which will be supported by Auckland's Burrmese community, Maori, Tibet and Sri Lankan communities, Falun Gong practitioners, politicians, and members of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG).

The Human Rights Torch Relay is travelling to 150 cities in 35 countries carrying the message that "Olympics and Crimes Against Humanity Cannot Coexist in China".
