The Design Tower an historic and protected stone building in Dublin's docklands, Grand Canal Quay, is the home to several gifted award-wining artists and craftspeople; jeweller Linda Uhlemann, cermamic artist Ayelet Lalor and Micheal De Hogg who makes violins, violas and cellos to order. You can go in and meet the artists at work in their respective studios.
Also located here is the Access to Arts Gallery, founded by art consultant Patrica Clyne-Kelly in 2003. Works exhibiting in the gallery, situated on the third floor, includes two sculptural chairs in wood, paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture in glass, bronze and ceramic.
Patrica Clyne-Kelly, who works as an art consultant to one of the large financial institutions in the city told The Epoch Times by email that "the current exhibition on show at the Access to Arts Gallery is a group exhibition of applied art and fine art by approximately forty Irish artists from all over Ireland."
The Gallery in Studio 38, offers a commissioning service and is available for both individual and business clients including outdoor and indoor sculptures, presentation commemoration gifts and awards. An extensive library of artists portfolios are available to clients wanting to see a broad range of work available, particularly if they wish to commission of if they are starting to collect.
Artists include Cormac Boydell, Sean Hillen, Roger Bennett, Brigitta Seck, Killian Schurmann, Jean Clyne, Kate Betts, Peter McGuire, Connor Maguire, Patricia Clyne-Kelly, Barbara Roder and John O'Connor. Patrica added that "Access to Arts endeavours to make your journey of discovery an interesting and enjoyable experience and offers advice for those wishing to purchase for investment. The group shows change continually so it is worth making regular visits to the gallery. The gallery is a welcoming, intimate space in which to browse at leisure."
The Design Tower is around the corner from the Grand Canal Dock dart station or make your way to Pearse Street on bus No 2 or 3. Secure parking is available. The Centre is wheelchair accessible and a restaurant coffee shop on the ground floor is open until 4p.m. Opening hours: 11a.m. - 2p.m. Monday to Friday and by appointment to 7p.m.
The Access to Art Gallery Christmas exhibition is open to view Mondays to Fridays until December 21st from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
