At a pre-court hearing on Monday, Sept. 4 in the Subordinate court, Singapore's only human rights lawyer Mr. Ravi stepped back into the ring stating renewed energy and determination to follow the case to the end.

Mr. Ravi told The Epoch Times "over the weekend I was able to recover my energy. I also spoke to my other clients and they were very understanding of the situation, which has allowed me some extra time to concentrate on this case."

Consistent with the unusual nature of this trial there were several irregularities this day. Despite objections from Mr Ravi the accused—Ng Chye Huey and Erh Boon Tiong—were requested by Judge May Mesenas to discuss their position in the Judge's chambers without counsel. Furthermore, a wrangle between Mr. Ravi and the Judge over a request by the Judge for Mr. Ravi to come to the chambers alone without his attaché saw the matter being held in open court over Mr Ravi's objection. The trial date has been set for the Sept. 25 at the Subordinate Court.
