ATLANTA—On Saturday, August 26, 2006, a public rally was held in support of renowned Chinese human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng (currently under arrest by the Chinese regime) and recently defected Chinese Eastern Airline pilot Yuan Sheng.

The rally was held on Buford Highway near Atlanta's Chinatown. About 50 people from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee attended. Gao and Yuan's cases have recently received international media attention. Reporters from Channel 5 Fox News covered the event.

The rally was organized by the Quitting the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Southeastern Service Center, the Global Coalition to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice, and The Epoch Times.

Mr. S. Zhou, a representative from the Quitting the CCP Southeastern Service Center, said as of August 27, 13 million people from China and abroad have withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party or its affiliated organizations. Zhou said this signifies the gradual awakening of Chinese people to the true nature of the CCP.

One Falun Gong practitioner came from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama drove 3 and a half hours to Atlanta to support this event. He called for the American government and people to support Yuan Sheng's courageous action and pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, especially concerning the Chinese Communist Party's crime of harvesting live Falun Gong practitioners' organs.

Yuan was a senior China Eastern Airline captain who recently sought political asylum in the U.S. for fear of persecution due to his activities in China spreading The Nine Commentaries and inviting Chinese people to quit the CCP.

Mrs. Yao, a Christian human rights activist from Atlanta spoke at the rally. She expressed her support for both Yuan Sheng and Gao Zhisheng.

Gao was arrested in Shandong Province on August 15 by the Chinese communist regime.

Mrs. Yao said human rights are universal, and in the face of human rights violations such as what the CCP has committed, people, regardless of nationality, race and religion, should all condemn the CCP's evil crimes.

Zhou Xuefei, a Falun Gong practitioner from Atlanta, was sentenced to three years of forced labor in China for practicing her belief. She spoke at the rally, telling the crowd that the CCP is frightened of The Nine Commentaries and Chinese people quitting the CCP.

The topic of "Quitting the CCP" is considered the most sensitive and dangerous topic in China today. Anyone caught with a copy of the Nine Commentaries can be arrested and sentenced to prison.
