Ian "Molly" Meldrum is thankful he was the first eliminated from Dancing With The Stars, because it means he can leave his hat on.
"Yes, I probably would have (taken it off)," said the music guru.
"But no-one will ever see it now - good, good, good!" he laughed.
Despite Simone Warne being tipped as favourite to leave the fourth series first, Meldrum was voted off the top rating show on Tuesday 28th February.
Wearing heavy eye make up and dancing to Walk Like An Egyptian, the star sashayed across the dancing floor in front of 2.23 million viewers nationally.
This figure is a record rating for a regular episode of the Seven Network program and the second most watched episode ever, only surpassed by 2.34 million for the final of series 2.
Meldrum says unlike other shows where ratings drop as more series are produced, Dancing With The Stars has a great mix that keeps viewers guessing.
"It's not like Australian Idol or Big Brother where they degrade people," he said.
"The judges are very serious about dancing so you have to live up to their level.
"It just has a great mix of people and there are no losers.
"I may have got knocked out yesterday, but there had to be an elimination and I am a shocking dancer!"
The iconic personality also admitted making a lifelong friend in world champion boxer and fellow competitor Kostya Tszyu.
He also took a swipe at tennis champion Lleyton Hewitt, who Meldrum considered arrogant.
"To share the dressing room with him (Tszyu) was a real treat," Meldrum said.
"He is focused and the guy is down to earth. It's a breath of fresh air from the Lleyton Hewitt's in the world.
"Unlike him (Hewitt), Kostya cares about people and is a wonderful person."
Apart from his weekly Sunrise segment, Meldrum will also be seen from April in a new interview based music program to be aired on Foxtel.
Further details and a name for the show are yet to be announced.
