The Epoch Times held a press conference outside the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. to peacefully protest the armed robbery and attack on Epoch Times chief technical officer Dr. Peter Yuan Li. Four Asian men forced entry into Dr. Li's Atlanta home on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. After beating Dr. Li, the men robbed him of two laptops, but left alone more valuable items such as his camcorder.

Li is an information technology specialist who has been active in Falun Gong human rights advocacy over the past six years. Li holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Princeton University. Epoch Times staff, readers, and local sympathizers held a press conference outside the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., in protest of this recent violence by what are believed to have been Chinese Communist agents and spies. At the press conference Epoch Times Washington, D.C. staff declared, " Epoch Times staff will not be intimidated by the Chinese Communist regime's attacks and terror tactics!" Epoch Times ' Washington, D.C. Bureau Chief Sen Nieh announced he would be joining an international relay hunger strike.

Through his hunger strike, Professor Nieh is also supporting Chinese human rights attorney Gao Zhisheng in China in his efforts to uphold justice. Attorney Zhisheng has often defended vulnerable and abused Chinese, and for his activism, has not been allowed to practice law. Further, Dr. Nieh called on all Americans to uphold justice and support the relay hunger strike to protest and condemn the Chinese Communist regime's egregious use of violence in the United States and in China.

In addition, Nieh called for, "The U.S. Congress, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security to pursue and catch the attackers and condemn the Chinese Communist regime for exporting violence to the U.S."

Press conference host Mindy Ge said, "As the [Chinese Communist Party] (CCP) becomes more frenzied, its time left grows only shorter. The raid on Dr. Li's home is another example of the Chinese Communist regime's thug style tactics and provides overseas human rights activists with an opportunity to further expose the CCP's use of terror tactics on American soil."

The Epoch Times hopes to raise awareness regarding the Chinese Communist regimes' continued use of thug tactics on Epoch Times ' reporters and staff within the United States.
