Miami Beach, Fl and its thousands of beachgoers experienced unusually high winds over the past weekend, but the weather did not stop the two dozen volunteers rallied on Washington Avenue in support of more than seven million people in and outside China who have renounced and resigned from the Chinese Communist Party. These historic resignations were sparked by people reading the Epoch Times Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party which explains the violent history of the CCP and its responses to political challenges throughout history.
Since its publication in November of 2005, the Nine Commentaries has sparked a wave of withdrawals and resignations form the Chinese Communist Party that is unprecedented; each day, approximately 20,000 more people announce their resignation from the party, using websites, phone banks, email, or just by posting their written withdrawals on walls and utility poles in their towns and cities.
The Communist Party has dominated China for more than fifty years, wiping out free speech, religion, and free association, and murdering 80 million Chinese citizens in order to maintain its grip on power. The people who are leaving the party do so at great risk; if their true identities are discovered they face jail or worse.

Despite the strong winds that turned their banners into sails, the volunteers at last weekend's event made sure the passers-by could clearly read their messages, such as "NO CCP!" One bystander was so touched and supportive of the issue that he proudly joined the group, gripping a corner of a banner to stand firmly against the wind and the Chinese Communist regime.

The volunteers also staged street performances depicting scenes from the history of the CCP. In order to illustrate the evils of the Communist regime, volunteers acted out typical events from the Cultural Revolution, the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and the persecution of Falun Gong. The dramatic presentation of recent history both entertained and educated the wind-whipped crowd, most of which had heard of these events but had no real information about them. Despite the difficult weather, the audience remained throughout the performances.
Many individuals who had endured life under the Chinese communist regime spoke at the rally. Annie Li, a Beijing native now living in Orlando described how her grandfather was persecuted and cheated out of his family's lands by the CCP during the Cultural Revolution. Attorney David Lee, now living in St. Petersburg, explained how China's legal system was wholly a political tool of the CCP, used to maintain the CCP's grip on power regardless of the cost in human lives.
Most in the audience were eager to learn more of the true situation in China and the resignation of so many people from the once-all-powerful Chinese Communist Party. Because Western media does not, by and large, cover China, most passers-by had no real knowledge of the tremendous changes happening in China. Crowd members took all the information the volunteers could pass out.

As at the November 26th event celebrating six million people quitting the CCP, the Cuban community was most supportive and understanding of the plight of the persecuted Chinese. Since many had lived under a communist dictator in Cuba, they well understood the grim realities of life in a repressive totalitarian state, and were greatly encouraged to see the world's largest communist regime starting to crumble.
The organizers are planning similar event in Orlando, Tampa and Tallahassee to mark the ever-increasing number of CCP resignations.
