NEW YORK - “The largest gathering of world leaders in history” is what the United Nations calls its Sept. 14-16 World Summit.

The war in Iraq, increasingly frequent natural disasters, terrorism, and reform of the United Nations itself are now among top items of international discussion in recent months. Thus the original objective of the summit, to discuss the Millenium Development Goals adopted at the Millenium Summit in September 2000, may take a back seat to these pressing issues.

The Chinese top leader Hu Jintao makes his first visit to North America since assuming all the top roles in China. He visits Canada, Mexico, and the U.N. for the World Summit and “sideline” meetings with President Bush.

China, the world’s troubled giant, faces its own challenges at this moment in history. The Epoch Times continues its added coverage of China as Hu Jintao visits North America and attends the World Summit.
