Mr. Han: I Am One of the Ten Falun Gong Practitioners Mentioned In Your Article

Jul 11, 2005

I admire your brave act of stepping forward to support Chen Yonglin and Hao Fengjun’s defections from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and expose the true nature of the CCP.

When I recently read the article “Exclusive report: Defecting Judicial Bureau Chief Exposes the 610 Office” on The Chinese Epoch Times website (also mentiond in ”Chinese Defector to Canada Fears Deportation”,) I was astonished to recognize you.

My name is Ms. Zhao. I am one of the ten Falun Gong practitioners transferred from the Masanjia Labor Camp to the camp mentioned in your article, one of the two practitioners you had a long talk with. I remember that day you came to our cell; you smiled at me and shook my hand kindly. You told me that you’d heard I’d suffered many hardships at the Masanjia Labor Camp and asked me if this was true. I replied, “Yes, it was worse than being a rightist during the Cultural Revolution.” From our conversation I gathered that your personal experiences gave you a deep understanding of my situation.

After you left, I thought to myself, "This bureau chief seems to be different from other officials. He cares so much about Falun Gong practitioners, and allows us to appeal in the labor camp." Such allowance was quite inconceivable given the circumstances.

After reading your article I have come to realize that it was indeed you who helped us secretly.

From your description of the electric shock torture of the 15-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner, Han Tianzi, in the Longshan Labor Camp, I can see that perhaps you do not even know the full story. In order to force them to write written pledges to give up their belief in Falun Gong, the labor camp chief Bai Suxia and policeman Tang Li, both of whom worked under your jurisdiction, used electric shock on two university students from Liao Ning College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

One male and one female, they were tortured right alongside Han Tianzi. The three of them were tortured with electric batons for the entire afternoon. Our stomachs knotted at hearing the terrifying yells coming out of the duty officer’s observation room. The female college student was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. She came back to the cell with no good skin left on the exposed parts of her body. She had burnt scabs everywhere. Many of us broke into tears upon seeing her condition. Han Tianzi became unable to lower one of her arms as a result of the shock treatment. That day happened to be her 15th birthday. I heard that the male student had it even worse.

The labor camp police would terrify us by brushing their electric batons along the heating radiators, which made a horrifying sound. It also served as a reminder to us that we could be shocked at any moment. Under these circumstances, about 70 of us went on a hunger strike to protest the electric shock torture. It surprised us that after just six days, our hunger strike was successful and all of our requests were met. Our three requests were: 1. Transfer Bai Suxia to a different camp. 2. Make policemen who beat practitioners leave Longshan Labor Camp; 3. Get rid of the electric batons. We did not realize that it was your influence that allowed our protest to be a success.

I remember that soon after meeting you, the ten of us were again detained in the Shenxin Labor Camp. We went on a hunger strike to protest our extended imprisonment. In retaliation, we were injected with large amounts of an unknown drug daily. When we had all reached the verge of death, we were released on bail for medical treatment.

Many of us have suffered severe and lasting damage from this persecution. The other practitioner that was with me the day we met is now in a permanent vegetative state. My health has been damaged to the point that I can no longer live a normal life. Another of us was persecuted to death, and I’ve no idea what happened to the other seven.

When the CCP later spread lies that you had run off with huge amounts of public money, I regret to admit that I believed them. At the time, I naively thought that the persecution of Falun Gong had nothing to do with the CCP, that it was a crime committed by Jiang Zemin’s band of villains. After reading the “Nine Commentaries on Communist Party”, I understand the evil nature of the CCP more clearly. Jiang colluded with the CCP to defame and persecute Falun Gong.

In the midst of this senseless persecution orchestrated by the CCP’s evil cult, under tremendous pressure and at great personal risk, you have followed your morality and conscience and bravely stepped forward to let the world know the truth. You have freed yourself from the CCP’s control and no longer worked yourself to the bone for the CCP, thus your wisdom and courage are truly admirable.
