BERLIN - The place had a symbolic character: at Checkpoint Charlie, the historic former frontier crossing between East and West in Berlin. During the time of the Cold War Soviet and American tanks used to face each other here in a threatening posture.
On Thursday morning, only a few hours before the first state visit of China’s Communist Party Leader (CCP) and Head of State Hu Jintao to Berlin and the 16th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, human rights activists carried banners with inscriptions such as: “The Red Wall is Falling” and “Five Million People Quit the Chinese Communist Party.” These banners sent a clear signal to Hu Jintao, as did the chorus of voices of those gathered: “Quickly, get out of the Party!” The chants were accompanied by traditional Chinese drummers.
A message of greeting from the Ukraine was read as well. The message was drawn up on behalf of the Ukraine Memorial Organization of the city of Kiev and reported on the physical extermination of the people of the Ukraine by the Soviet communist regime, an atrocity not very well known about in the West. Between 1917 and 1991, starvation, mass deportations, genocide and terror took place in the Ukraine and claimed large numbers of lives. The sufferings of the Ukraine under the Soviets show clear parallels to the 56 years the CCP had held power in China, which is to blame for between 60-80 million deaths up to now.
The article series Nine Commentaries of the Communist Party, published by The Epoch Times, has opened the eyes of 5.5 million Chinese people to their own history. They have declared that they are quitting the CCP on a website provided by The Epoch Times. These denials have triggered an alarm for the communist rulers in the government of China. This clearly is understandable when one thinks about the fact, that of the about 1,3 billion Chinese people in China only about 70 million are members of the CCP. Many people who are willing to quit the CCP have not had a chance yet to use this electronic method of quitting, due to the state run internet blockade.

After the announcement, the groups formed up a demonstration, consisting of about 350 German, Chinese and many European participants, through the center of Berlin up to the Chinese Embassy on the Jannowitz Bridge. Lead by a group of Chinese drummers, they attracted attention in the town center. In front of the Chinese Embassy, one could see the concentrated denial of the communist party and their leaders, as well as read the inscriptions on the posters and banners that were brought along: “No CCP in China.”
The event ended with many strong appeals by Chinese human rights activists addressing the Chinese Government. A spokesperson for Falun Gong made an uncompromising declaration that all high CCP officials who have participated in the 6 years long persecution of Falun Gong in China will be charged with lawsuits should they travel overseas. Some Falun Gong adherents gave demonstrations of methods of the persecution on a vehicle that accompanied the demonstration. Graphic reenactments of torture by confinement in a small cage, torture by electric shocks, and torture by beatings while being tied up. Reactions from the Embassy staff were hidden behind view-protected windows.
