Xin Fei, a reporter from The Epoch Times, has kept track of the latest information from Zhao Xin, a member of Chinese Democratic Party in Beijing, and has found out that Zhao Xin was taken away from his own home in Haidian District, Beijing City on the evening of January 21, 2005 (Beijing local time). His application for holding a parade to “protest against the authority’s forcefully depriving the citizens of their rights to commemorate Zhao Ziyang, the former General Secretary of CCP” was rejected.

Mr. Zhao Xin was put under house arrest on the morning of January 19 and he has lost his personal freedom since then only because he had informed more than 100 people and intended to attend a commemorative service for Zhao Ziyang. Because the policemen watched his home day and night, resulting in serious psychological pressure to his family, Zhao Xin was content to be taken away from his own home by the police.

On the evening of the January 21, Beijing local time, the reporter called Zhao Xin’s home phone number, and when there was no answer, she knew that he had already been taken away by the police. Later, the reporter was able to contact Zhao through his cellular phone.

Zhao told the reporter that the Police Station in Haidian District, on behalf of the government, had replied to him officially, saying that their application for holding a parade to protest was rejected. The stated reason for the rejection was that they should apply 7-10 days in advance according to the regulations of “the Law of PRC on parades and protests.” Since their application was not in accord with the regulations, it couldn’t be approved.

Zhao Xin mentioned that last week he had been fired from his work. The main reason was that he had taken part in democratic activities too much. Zhao had a good job in a big company, and his annual income was over 200,000 Yuan (USD25,000).

Zhao Xin recalled a conversation with his wife just before he left home. Mrs. Zhao asked him, “What are you going to do with your ideals and belief?”

Zhao answered, “I will definitely devote all my life to make them a reality in China, to make China more prosperous, more abundant and freer than ever.”

Mrs. Zhao asked again, “Then what will you do to take care of your own child and family?”

Zhao said, “I will do the best I can.”

Zhao described, “My wife kept repeating my answer ‘I will do the best I can’ more than 10 times. Later, she has cried the whole night. I felt that I couldn’t find a better harbor for them, for which it is my duty to my wife and my child, so I proposed a suggestion of divorce. Later, she agreed.”

Zhao considered that since his current situation of being watched tightly at his home was not good for his wife and his child, and had caused serious psychological pressure to them, Zhao Xin was content to be taken away from his own home by the police.

He had already proposed the divorce and also informed several of his friends who had taken part in applying for the parade about his latest personal situation before he was taken way by the police.

He asked that all the information he supplied be written down in order to let people around the world know his family’s tragedy caused by the current tyrannical authority and his determination to struggle for the cause of democracy and freedom at any price.

Zhao Xin, also called Zixuan, was born in 1968, and is living in Beijing right now. In 1987, he led and organized the student democratic movement in Jilin Province. In 1989, he participated in organizing the student democratic movement, and was voted as the first President of Jilin Province University Autonomy Union by the student representatives.

In August 1998, he started the campaign called “Strong Appealing for the Female Chinese Victims in the Indonesia Anti-Chinese Incident,” asking people to sign for support. At the end of that month, together with Jiang Qisheng and Wu Pei, he started the campaign called “To Save Our Mother River—Yangtze River.”

During 1998, together with partners Ren Wanding, Ma Shaohua and Wang Linhai, he applied to the Civil Administration Bureau for establishing the Preparatory Committee of the Chinese Democracy Party, Beijing Branch. Later the police searched his house and confiscated his property. He was summoned for trial and his whole family was driven out of Beijing. He was elected as and later became one of the 53 standing Preparatory Committee members of the Chinese Democracy Party that later went public nationwide.

After 1999, since he was forbidden to re-enter Beijing, he couldn’t continue his studies as a graduate student at the Chinese People’s University. He has moved everywhere, and has been persecuted several times. He has even been put into prison twice.
