Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian.
TAIPEI – The president of Taiwan, Chen Shui-bian made comments recently on The Epoch Times editorial series, “Jiuping,” or "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party."

In a letter dated December 27, the President wrote to Professor Zhang Qingxi of Taipei University, a well-known economist and a columnist for The Epoch Times, who had sent a copy of Jiuping to the President. Chen said, “The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party takes the development of the Chinese Communist Party as a main topic, thoroughly studies and analyzes it, and puts forth a very distinctive point of view.”

In his letter to the President, Professor Zhang expressed that the problems facing Taiwan at present, whether military-related, political, or economic in nature, in reality all originate from the CCP.

He said that Taiwan’s problems are problems caused by the CCP and that if tracing these issues to their sources, understanding the essence of the CCP and breaking the indifferent attitude of common Taiwanese citizens towards the CCP, Taiwan would be able to stand firm and tall.

The President replied saying that Professor Zhang demonstrated great foresight and values. He added, “Recently China has publicly announced that it will implement so called ‘counter-separatism national laws’ in order to fabricate a legal pretext to unilaterally change the current situation in the Taiwan Strait, and to pave the way for future military violations against Taiwan. This shows no regard for our good intentions and seeks to deliberately destroy the peace in this territory. These actions clearly showcase the essence of its ‘Scoundrel Socialism.’”

Quoting a poem from South Song Dynasty of China, the President expressed that there is no reason to go against the will of the people and the ideological trend. “In the end, all that is against human nature and the natural law will be washed away, never to return,” he said.

“The measures for counteraction proposed in this letter definitely show great foresight, and has much reference values. Herewith by the means of a letter, I express my sincere thanks. From now on with timely educational words, let us altogether struggle for the long-term development and fortune of our country. I herewith wish you a great new year.”
“Sincerely,
“Chen Shui-bian”
