LOS ANGELES—J.D. Drew blasted a two-run home run in the ninth inning to help Boston beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-5 on Friday, giving the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five American League Divisional Series.

The Red Sox can advance to the AL Championship Series by completing a sweep of the Angels in Game Three on Sunday at Boston's Fenway Park.

Drew's monster shot to center field off reliever Francisco Rodriguez allowed the visiting Red Sox to remain perfect against the Angels in their last 11 playoff contests.

The Angels rallied from 5-1 down to tie the game at 5-5 by the eighth, but Boston reliever Jonathan Papelbon tossed a hitless final two innings, allowing one unearned run, to close the game.
